Muito antes do previsto, Sliced Porosity Block de Steven Holl em Chengdu, China, foi concluído. Formando grandes praças públicas com um mix de várias funções, o grupo de cinco torres tem a intenção de ser encarado mais como uma área pública apesar do imponente desenho que pode ser visto no local. Sua geometria recortada pelo sol resulta das necessidades mínimas da exposição solar do tecido urbano adjacente. O grande espaço público enquadrado pelos edifícios formam três vales inspirados num poema de Du Fu (713-770).
